Consumers are wary of giving out personal data when shopping online, usually because they are afraid of data abuse. Online dealers want payment certainty. These seemingly opposing interests can be reconciled to ensure that both parties are protected.

EOS can help you give your customers the security that both parties need. Using risk analyses, we can check all the relevant information during the order process, if desired. We can check whether certain addresses are plausible and whether the account details provided could exist. We can also check the plausibility and allocation of IP addresses. Different checks are advisable depending on the type of product. For card payments, for instance, we can, if required, find out which country the card issuer is based in. If the information is inconsistent, we can add on more checks or offer an alternative payment method if necessary. In this way you protect consumers against data abuse and reduce the risk of non-payment. Needless to say, our approach complies with the provisions of Germany’s Federal Data Protection Act.
