Katja Rockel

‘I would apply to EOS again’

Katja Rockel (24) is a case manager at EOS Health Honorarmanagement AG. Here she talks about her work, her training and her goals.

It’s 11 o’clock on Monday morning. I reach for the telephone and take a call from a patient. On the phone we agree on an arrangement for paying her dentist’s bill by instalments. This is what I enjoy most about my work: personal and telephone contact with clients and their customers, or patients in this case, and the encounters with an endless variety of personalities.

In August 2003, I began my training at EOS DID as an office administrator with additional debt collection qualification. I felt good about EOS even on the day of my aptitude test. And that initial feeling wasn’t deceptive: the employees in staff development were always there for me throughout my three-year apprenticeship, as were the trainees’ mentors in the departments. All in all, I was delighted at the varied nature of the tasks assigned to me during my apprenticeship. The many training measures and seminars, the cooperation with other trainees, involvement in the young trainees’ representative organization (JAV) and, most of all, the many assignments in the various departments at EOS DID and the companies within the EOS Group, all broadened my horizons more than I could have imagined.

With all these varied things going on, there’s no doubt that I would apply to EOS again. Here I get the chance to further my vocational development and grow along with my company. Straight after my training in mid-2006, for example, I had the opportunity to start as a case manager at EOS Health Honorarmanagement AG. In the Operations (client support) department I am part of a most congenial twelve-strong team. In the long term I hope to advance from case manager to client adviser.

Hamburg, August 2007
